The Office for Research has named Nicholas Angeloni as its director of strategic planning and coordination.
Angeloni arrived at the University in 2006 as a PhD student in the Driskill Graduate Program. His postdoctoral research on translational nanotechnology in the laboratory of C. Shad Thaxton, urology, resulted in 14 publications and two patents.
“We’re excited to welcome Nick to the Office for Research,” says Fruma Yehiely, associate vice president for research. “Nick brings terrific experience into this newly created position in planning, coordinating, and managing resources within the research setting.”
In his most recent position as a research associate scientist at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Angeloni managed two research groups, working closely with principal investigators to ensure successful operation management of 13 research projects. As part of those efforts, he implemented several new review processes designed to use resources more efficiently. In addition, he facilitated communication between collaborators across schools, produced annual reports, and helped develop large grant proposals.
"I'm thrilled to join the Office for Research during an exciting time of growth of the research enterprise at Northwestern," says Angeloni. "I am looking forward to bringing my experience and skills to this new position and contribute to the thriving research ecosystem."
Angeloni will report to Yehiely and manage the implementation of selected strategic goals within OR. He will work closely with leadership throughout the University to develop success metrics, bring together working groups for strategic discussions, and assess progress of new initiatives in support of Northwestern’s research enterprise.
